  • Notes: first edition. a presentation copy, "George Dillwyn from the author & publisher." Thomas Clarkson (1760-1846) was one of the most effective voices in the British anti-slavery movement. In Parliament, Clarkson together with William Wilberforce, fought ceaselessly to put an end to the African slave trade. Parliament finally placed a ban on the trade in 1807.
