(PRESIDENTS--1860 CAMPAIGN.) [Louis Maurer?] The Political Gymnasium. Lithograph, 13 1/2 x 18 inches; several closed tears, two of them repaired with old masking tape on verso (William Seward being the only figure affected), also two bits of tape mounting on verso, minor foxing and wear. New York: Currier & Ives, 1860

  • Notes: Horace Greely struggles to do a pull-up in his effort to gain the New York governorship, while Lincoln is easily astride his own bar offering helpful advice: "You must do as I did, Greely, get somebody to give you a boost. I''m sure I never could have got up here by my own efforts." Lincoln''s opponents, as well Edward Everett and William Seward, are also featured. Reilly 1860-34.
