- Notes: very rare offprint on the combustibility of diamonds from the "Journal des Scavans" (Observations sur la physique). This report by the famous chemist Lavoisier "demonstrates that diamond combines with oxygen during combustion to form carbon dioxide"--Sinkankas 4118 (not seen). His experiments on diamonds led him to explore the combustion of similar materials such as phosphorus and sulfur. Cole 895.
