This poster is not only an important piece of artwork, but it is also an important document. Very early in their careers, long before they became the two most successful poster artists of their generation, and when they were still having trouble finding commissions, Savignac and Villemot, found a way to exhibit their sketches at the Maison des Beaux-Arts. The June 19th opening was a huge success, and resulted in Savignac selling his cow sketch to Monsavon. In order to look different from his friend in the poster, Savignac grew a moustache, and kept it for over fifty years! It is plain that in this, one of his first mature posters, Savignac is no longer under the influence of Cassandre. A humerous, child-like drawing, in black, red and blue with two of Savignac's favorite symbols - a flower and a bird.
