Raymond Savignac 1907 Olivetti Lettera 22 Circa 1953 27.75 x 19 inches. G. Colombi, Milan. Condition A. Paper. Savignac became famousfor the visual gags that he created to promote the brands that he was commissioned to advertise. To do that, he always used funny characters or animals. When Giovanni Pintori who also commissioned Jean Michel Folon, Milton Glaser, and Leo Lionni among others asked him to design a poster for Olivetti typewriter, Savignac, in his signature playful, childish, and simple style decided to draw a smiling woman filled with letters, holding the typewriter in her right hand, the case in the other. Savignac also did other posters for Olivetti; another notable image features an owl, its body filled with all the letters of the alphabet. ref.
