Pen and brown ink and wash over black chalk on cream laid paper. 170x234 mm; 6 3/4x9 1/4 inches. Large eagle with a Crozier watermark (cf. Heawood 1302 and 1303). Inscribed "Rembrant" in ink, lower right recto. Ex-collection Dr. E. Peart (Lugt 891, lower left recto); Sir Charles Greville (Lugt 549, verso); his nephew, the Earl of Warwick; Maggs Bros, London (by 1937); and C. G. Boerner, Düsseldorf. The current work is a copy after a drawing by Ferdinand Bol in the Hamburg Kunsthalle.
