Three etchings with engraving and drypoint (one on orange laid paper, another on rose laid paper), circa 1643-49. Biörklund's third state (of 3); Usticke's sixth state (of 6); White and Boon's second state (of 2), after the Captain Baillie rework and the plate was cut down into 4 separate pieces. Good, dark impressions.
These 3 prints are the left and right portions of the original plate. Baillie acquired the plate around 1775 and, after reworking it and printing proofs of the entire subject, cut it down into 4 separate pieces to produce the current works. Bartsch 74; Biörklund 49-I; Hollstein (White and Boon) 74.
