(REVOLUTION.) [Adams, Samuel?] [Extraordinary.] . . . The Boston Evening-Post. Monday, February 1, 1773. 2-page broadside newspaper extra. Folio, unbound; minor browning, a few repaired tears. Boston: Thomas and John Fleet, 1 February 1773

the colonists respond to their governor. Soon after Samuel Adams issued his famous circular letter calling for the establishment of committees of correspondence, Governor Hutchinson issued a statement referring to such actions as treasonous to the Crown. This newspaper extra publishes a message from the Massachusetts House of Representatives to the Governor refuting his claims and arguing that the British House of Commons have asserted "a power inconsistent with the freedom of the constitution to give and grant the property of the colonists and appropriate the same without their consent" -- i.e. taxation without representation. The paragraph preceding the text of the letter informs the public that Samuel Adams, John Hancock and several others have been appointed to a committee to await the Governor's response. A scarce newspaper extra with good Revolutionary content.
