RICHARD BURTON
Typed letter signed by Burton agreeing to extend his contract for the filming of Cleopatra (1963). December 14, 1961.
1 page, 8 1/2x11 inches. Chip in the top right corner.

Burton was given a week's leave from production of Cleopatra to appear in a Christmas television special, and thus extends his contract with this letter to make up for the lost time. Production on the epic film starring Burton, Elizabeth Taylor (of course) and Rex Harrison took two years and $44 million, making it the most costly film ever made at that time.
