  • Notes:
Growing, 1990, is a unique stainless steel sculpture that Richard Hunt used as a maquette for the large outdoor sculpture Growing 1999, commissioned by the City of Leawood, Kansas. Hunt uses geometric forms such as triangles and cylinders to build the bases of his sculptures; curved, flowing, natural forms sit on the bases. In such sculpture, his goals include balancing formal elements, such as line, shape, and movement, exploring ideas about nature, behavior, and dreams and combining the tools and technology of today with the shapes and ideas of nature. Hunt lets the viewers decide what these shapes resemble.
