Provenance: ex-collection the artist; private New York collection.

Exhibited: Romare Bearden in Black-and-White, Photomontage Projections, 1964, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, 1997, traveling exhibition, and In the Spirit of Martin: The Living Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES), 2002. With the labels on the frame back.

This important experimental print is the only known surviving impression of this photostat. The location of the collage from which this was printed is not known.
