ROOSEVELT, FRANKLIN D. Typed Letter Signed, to John N. Dyer ("My dear Mr. Dyer"),

ORGANIZING BUSINESS LEADERS FOR AL SMITH'S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN ROOSEVELT, FRANKLIN D. Typed Letter Signed, to John N. Dyer ("My dear Mr. Dyer"), expressing pleasure at his support of Governor Smith, explaining his intention to help organize industry and commerce into a national group, asking for help in soliciting sympathetic statements from Democratic leaders among fruit growers in Indiana, and inviting him to meet with Byron R. Newton to discuss details. 1 page, 4to, personal stationery; horizontal folds, mounted at corners; matted and framed. Np, 16 August 1928

  • Notes: ". . . My part in the campaign is the organization of the business men of the country into a national group. . . . I am particularly anxious to have the Fruit Growers well represented. I am told that you have a very influential rating among the Fruit Growers and that you have very clear ideas why it is to their advantage to see Governor Smith succeed in this campaign. . . . Thus far one of the interesting phases of the campaign is the assurances we are receiving from prominent business men who have heretofore not been identified with the Democratic party. Men in this category are especially valuable to us just now and particularly if they are willing to make a statement which can be used through our publicity channels. . . ."
