The drawing, sketch showing a lake side where a rowboat is moored to a tree while a bird glides over the calm lake surface. 2½ pages, 8vo, written on a folded sheet; short closed separations at folds, horizontal fold. The postscript: "Too bad 'we don't have' a yearly income of two hundred and ninety-eight thousand francs! Sad fate! . . .
"I'll come by your house on Tuesday to get:
"1. Some old drawings of mine dedicated to you; Id like to borrow them to make engravings of them
"2. Your book of verses; I have an idea."
The post-postscript: "And for a whole month we won't talk about literature. Anything: banking, history, philosophy, hygiene, botany, . . . but not literature! You have to learn to think like a clog maker."
