  • Notes:
Rosemarie Trockel and Curtis Anderson began to make collaborative drawings in 1985, one of which was exhibited in the Museum Ludwig, Cologne, during the summer of that year. By the time Untitled (Wasserkopf) was created, the two artists were living together in Cologne. Trockel's Wasserkopf, or " Waterhead" images of the 1980s come from the artist's personal iconography. Trockel's artwork often defies categorization; her early works tend to explore feminine domesticity, the psychology and fluidity of the creative process, and often challenged the historical hierarchy of media and genres in art. Anderson's multimedia artwork during the 1980s also challenged the status quo. His installations had participants question their own perception and connection with accepted norms and spaces.
