S. DOUGLAS CONSTABLE BODIAM CASTLE.

40x25 inches. Corquodale, London.
Condition A-: repaired tears, creases and discoloration in margins; unobtrusive horizontal folds.
Built in 1385, Bodiam Castle survives today, as the poster states, as "A Perfect Mediaeval Relic." The building represents an important architectural shift from fully fortified castles to elaborate, elegant living spaces, that not only represented the aristocracy's wealth, but also provided a healthy measure of security. The Castle is pictured here, with an historic figure, within its large, picturesque moat.
