One in the long series of posters that Cheret designed between 1891 and 1900 for a lamp oil company. The series, twenty posters in all, can conceivably be considered as the first modern advertising campaign. Year after year Cheret helped build the company's image, ensuring immediate recognition, by using the same concept of a woman holding a lamp. However, in each poster, the color of the lamp shade, the color of the woman's dress or her stance with the lamp is changed. Here an orange-haired woman in a yellow dress is holding a blue lamp; against a blue background. Broido 953.
