One of the 2 sheets in Paris has the same watermark as the present drawing. As Emmanuelle Brugerolles has pointed out, the expressions and extravagant hats recall the engraved work of Jacques de Gheyn II, whose prints Ricci would have known through the collection of his friend, Antonio Maria Zanetti. Furthermore, Ricci had married the Dutch-born Meddalena vander Meer in 1696 and traveled to the Low Countries in 1716 E9000- 12000 [See Color Plate Vi]
