- Notes: album of iconographic material relating to the de vere family assembled by Captain R. Ridgell Trout, an amateur scholar and early Oxfordian, in the course of his researches into the Shakespeare authorship question and the case for Edward De Vere (1550-1604), 17th Earl of Oxford, as the true author of the plays traditionally ascribed to Shakespeare. Accompanied by Trout's extensive hand- and typewritten notes, the contents include nearly 90 18th- and 19th-century engraved portraits; numerous photographs and postcards of sites and locales connected with the De Veres; Trout's drawings of their homes and monuments associated with family members; and photostats of old documents. A similar scrapbook put together by Captain Trout is apparently in the Shakespearean Authorship Trust Library at Otley Hall in Suffolk. complete list of contents available on request.
