Autograph Letter Signed, "Leicester," to Edward Montagu ("My Lord"), dispelling rumors that he has been unduly favoring the exile Sir Francis Windebanke, warning against the Earl of Bristol, expressing regret that he cannot help his brother Walter become a cardinal because of his lack of power in the Consistory, sending confidential news of the trade in recusant books and of activities among English exiles. 3 1/2 pages, small 4vo, written on a single folded sheet; minor scattered soiling, folds.
