Buchanan has signed on the front blank of volume one with a note in his hand that the set was given to him by the publishers, plus each volume signed and inscribed by him to A. J. Glossbrenner, his private secretary from 1860-61. A wonderful association set of these Presidential writings, surely used by Buchanan for inspiration during his own Presidency.
