Endorsement Signed, "William Ellery Cler[k of the Rhode Island General Assembly]," requesting that the Rhode Island House of Magistrates issue a citation ordering the North Kingstown blacksmith mentioned in the attached petition to appear in court and show why the petitioner Nicholas Spencer should not have the "Negro Girl" in dispute restored to him. 2¼ pages, small 4to, folded sheet. Endorsement Signed, as Justice of the Peace, certifying a copy of a 1719 deed [copy present] granting 100 acres of Andrew Caldwell's land in Kent County [DE] to Christopher Nugan. 2¼ pages, folio, written on two sheets; silked on recto and verso, vertical fold through signature with minor loss, some separations at folds with loss to few scattered words of text near edges, moderate brittling overall, few small holes at fold intersections with minor loss to text, docketing on terminal page.
