SKANDERBEG BIEMMI, GIOVANNI MARIA. Istoria di Giorgio Castrioto detto Scander-Begh. 1756

BIEMMI, GIOVANNI MARIA. Istoria di Giorgio Castrioto detto Scander-Begh. Engraved frontispiece portrait. [16], 502, [2] pages, including errata leaf at end. 8vo, contemporary vellum with spine title in ink; scattered minor foxing, minor repair along fore edge of portrait, title soiled, with substantial portion of outer margin excised and restored slightly affecting imprint. Bookplate of Henry Blackmer. Brescia: Giovanni Maria Rizzardi, 1756

  • Notes: Second edition of a literary forgery originally published in 1742. The ostensible source for Biemmi's biography was the non-existent Historia Scanderbegi supposedly printed in 1480 by Erhard Ratdolt in Venice, which would have been the first book devoted to Skanderbeg.
