(SLAVERY AND ABOLITION.) MANUMISSION. A manuscript document affirming the manumitted state of a man named Mathew. Single small folio leaf, written on one side and docketed on the reverse. Frederick County, MD, 1811

  • Notes: "I certify that a Negro man named Mathew of about 40 years of age, not quite 5 foot 1-1/2 inches high of rather dark black complexion, the second finger on the right hand somewhat crooked towards the left. . . was one in the same who was manumitted by Phillip Coblent by deed on August 12, 1811."
