  • Notes: A rare slave sale broadside for a large auction of 44 persons, organized by their abilities. Out of forty-four people named, all but two are field hands. William Pinkney Shingler was born in Orangeburg County, SC on November 11, 1827. He was a wealthy planter and banker before the war; and a partner in Shingler Brothers, exchange brokers in Charleston.
