  • Notes: first edition of clarkson's definitive history of the efforts of the British abolitionists on behalf of Africa and the African. Clarkson, together with William Wilberforce and others fought long and hard to bring about the end of the slave trade. But it took nearly fifteen more years to bring about emancipation for the tens of thousands of slaves in Britain's colonies.
