  • Notes: Includes issues dated 12 and 26 April, 12 July, 23 August, and 4, 18, and 25 October 1849. The 12 July issue features the story of escaped slave Ellen Crafts and a note on Frederick Douglass assuming sole editorship of the North Star. The 18 October issue features a note by Douglass on his lecturing experiences, and an assessment that the proposed new State of Deseret was steeped in "negro hatred."
