(SLAVERY AND ABOLITION.) STOWE, HARRIET BEECHER. Scenes from Uncle Tom No. 2. First Meeting of Uncle Tom and Eva.

(SLAVERY AND ABOLITION.) STOWE, HARRIET BEECHER. Scenes from Uncle Tom No. 2. First Meeting of Uncle Tom and Eva. Hand-tinted lithograph, 13-1/2x10 inches, matted and framed. New York: T.W. Strong Litho, 1852-1860's

  • Notes: One of a number of scenes from Stowe's tremendously popular anti-slavery novel, depicting Little Eva perched on a bale of cotton talking to Uncle Tom on a pier, the smokestack of a paddle-wheeler in the background. The primitive style of this engraving gives the effect of Eva almost floating in mid-air.
