Notes: first illustrated edition, inscribed by william lloyd garrison on christmas day, 1852: "Ann T. G. Phillips. From her very grateful and most affectionate friend, Wm. Lloyd Garrison, Boston, Christmas Day, 1852." The 117 illustrations for this edition were drawn by Hammett Billings who had done the seven that appeared in the two-volume edition. BAL 19527.
