(SLAVERY and ABOLITION.) The Anti-Slavery Alphabet [cover title]. Large woodcut alphabet letters, most colored in, presumably by a child. 12mo, original lettered wrappers, lacking the rear cover. (Philadelphia, 1847)
- Notes: first edition. An uncommon juvenile employing anti-slavery verses for each letter of the alphabet. In the belief that prejudice is born of ignorance and begins or ends at an early age, the anti-slavery societies produced several juvenile publications in the 1830s and 1840s, with the "Alphabet" and "The Slave's Friend," being among the most popular.
