(SLAVERY.) Deed for the sale of an enslaved man named Bob in Rockland County, New York. Manuscript Document Signed by grantor Garret Snedeker and two witnesses. One page, 12 x 7¾ inches, with docketing on verso; worn with slight loss of text, separations at folds with tape repairs on verso. Clarkstown, NY, 4 June 1803

  • Notes: Bill of sale for "the Negro man Bob hereby granted and sold . . . about twenty nine years old." The seller was Garret Snedecker, the buyer was Peter Dewint Smith, and the price was $250. Slavery did not end in New York until 1827.
