(New York, 1832) first edition. David Ruggles (1810-1849), African-American businessman, journalist, abolitionist, and conductor on the underground railroad, was also the first African-American bookseller, with premises located at Lispenard St. in lower Manhattan. He replies here to an anti-abolitionist pamphlet by Dr. Reese. Sabin 73941.
