- Notes: nice copy of the single most important map of new england. The fifth state (of 9), with cross hatching on the armor, Paynes islands named, and the engraver's name spelled Passaeus. "This is the foundation map of New England cartography, the one that gave it its name and the first devoted to the region. It covers the area from present Penobscot Bay in Maine, to Cape Cod, Massachusetts"--Burden 187; McCorkle 614.1.
