    This photograph was exhibited at the Jewish Museum in 1971.
    One of the central images associated with Smith's Spanish Village series, it was reproduced in the photo story "Spanish Village," in LIFE Magazine, April 9, 1951, and achieved instant popularity.

  • Condition: With Smith's deft attention to darkroom printing and toning, he manages to detail the dark black contours of the woman who delicately spins her thread, the bow pursed between her lips.
