  • Notes: In August 1905, members of the Hamburg Observatory traveled to Souk-Ahras, Algeria to document the solar eclipse. A large telescope was employed, which had a special lens fabricated by Carl Zeiss.

Dr. Schorr, who was director of German observatory, photographed the inner corona of the sun. Although the celestial event lasted a bit more than three minutes, he managed to shoot five exposures. Dr. K. Graf, created the overlay drawings and the final lithograph.

The nine marvelous plates in this oversize book each show a square of the solar eclipse. A plastic overlay depicts direction and details of the sun. The title is scarce; no other copies have been located as of this writing.
