Here the "Daylight" is blazing its way out of a map of the United States, superimposed over a star-spangled emblem that looks like a railroad spike. In the mid-1930s, Southern Pacific's advertising manager, F. Q. Treadway, chose to illustrate "bold speed-styled portraits" on the company's posters. Zega 109.
