  • Notes: "We have had many disappointments in getting the music of Strawinsky's 'Sacre du Printemps'. I have just heard that it is finally on its way from Germany . . . . I hope . . . to do it in Philadelphia, but New York is doubtful yet. It is an extremely difficult score, and I would like to work it out quietly here in Philadelphia, before bringing it over to New York, as it has so many extremely personal and strange elements in the music which I know will not be easy to attain to.
"I have read over again your notes . . . . I cannot tell you how happy I am that we shall have the association of these splendid notes with our concerts."
