"N.Y. Public Library" (Fifth Avenue). High key silver print, 12 3/4x9 1/2 inches (32.4x24.1 cm.), with Struss's Madison Square hand stamp and reproduction notation, in pencil, on verso. Circa 1913

  • Notes: Acquired from Christie's, New York, in 1999.
    The Photograph and the American Dream 1840-1940, 180.
    Struss characterized the special tonality of this print as "high key," which refers to a print made predominately with a light tonal range.
    White exclusively represented the photographer from 1977-1981 and sold his collection to the Amon Carter Museum, Ft. Worth, TX.
