Another British car company that was under the umbrella of the Rootes group, Sunbeam started out as the Sunbeamland Cycle Factory in 1877. The Sunbeam "Talbot" Alpine, which was manufactured from 1953-1955, took its name from the success of the Sunbeam-Talbot racing cars at the Alpine Rally.
