Tadanori Yokoo 1936 Issey Miyake/Body Works. 1985 30 x 21.75 inches. Condition A. Although he began his career in set design and later worked as a printmaker, Yokoo again drastically changed mediums in the early 1980s, taking up painting, which allowed him to follow the trends of the moment in a much more personalized style. This poster, one in a series of four that can stand alone but also can be fit together to create a larger image, was done for his friend, fashion designer Issey Miyake. As Yokoo himself said: "In the past I've designed two or three posters for Issey Miyake, but all were in different styles. In addition to the posters, I've collaborated over a period of almost 30 years with pictures, mail shots for his Paris collections, and, from time to time, textile works. However, each time, I change styles. Since I faithfully respond to whatever my physical condition is at the time, the style and subject matter inevitably change. This parallels the way in which the fashion worn varies according to one's physiology." ref. Tadanori Yokoo Poster Artby Jitsugyo No Nihon Sha, Tokyo, 2000 - reproduced p. 137
