TAFT, WILLIAM HOWARD. Typed Letter Signed, "WmHTaft," as Chief Justice, to Republican Party leader Isaac "Ike" M. Ullman,

TAFT, WILLIAM HOWARD. Typed Letter Signed, "WmHTaft," as Chief Justice, to Republican Party leader Isaac "Ike" M. Ullman, discussing the illness suffered by his younger brother Horace Dutton Taft, mentioning his own heart disease and that of Ullman's brother, instructing him on how Ullman's son-in-law is to visit him in Washington, mentioning a visit from his own grandchildren, and asking to convey greetings to Dr. [William Francis?] Verdi. 1¾ pages, 4to, "Supreme Court of the United States" stationery, written on two sheets; folds. (SFC) Washington, 6 April 1927

". . . I wrote Horace yesterday that if I wanted to get up a disease for him I would arrange for a vacation for him . . . They never go off anywhere that they don't bring back a disease. However, I am glad that it is no worse than the shingles . . . . Horace is very full of advice to me to reduce work, but he never applies it to himself. Of course he is the foundation of his school. I can realize that he feels that a great many of the parents of the boys count on his presence and his supervision . . . .
". . . I am glad . . . that your brother who I think is suffering from heart disease as I am, has been able to help himself by a visit to the South. . . .
"When your son-in-law comes to Washington, let him call Mr. Mischler on the telephone, and I shall arrange to see him just before Court and before he is introduced. He should get someone here to introduce him and bring the certificate of his admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Connecticut. . . ."
