The Black Clown. Golden Stair Broadside No. 2 Poem by Langston Hughes, Decorations by Prentice Taylor. Large broadside 11 x 17.125 inches]; two hand-colored vignettes; top of page in large, bold black letters, beneath which is the poem in four columns; one vignette to the upper left; the other to the right of the lower right. Beneath the poem is the price, originally "15 cents" with the '15' changed by hand to '25 cents,' then "This poem is reprinted from the booklet, The Negro Mother, Price 25 cents. Both the broadsides and the booklet may be ordered from The Golden Stair Press, 23 Bank Street, New York City. " Fine copy. New York: Golden Stair Press, 1931 E1500-2000 One of only a handful of these broadsides printed during a very brief collaboration and association on Golden Stair between Hughes and Taylor. Not noted by Dickinson, who lists only the Negro Mother and an appearance in Crisis in 1932
