  • Notes: one of only four known copies of the earliest college baseball broadsheet. Amherst and Williams played the first intercollegiate baseball game on 1 July 1859. Using the Boston rules which allowed 13 players per team, Amherst trounced Williams 73 to 32 in 26 innings. Henderson, Early American Sport page 7, locates only two copies (Racquet and Tennis Club Library and Amherst). In addition, there is a copy at the Library of Congress.
