THÉOPHILE STEINLEN Baigneuse en plein air.

THÉOPHILE STEINLEN
Baigneuse en plein air.

Etching on cream laid paper, 1911. 343x248 mm; 13 1/2x9 3/4 inches, full margins. First state (of 7), before the additional shading in aquatint. Signed and dedicated "à Eug. Delâtre" in pencil, lower right. A superb, early impression of this scarce etching.

Eugène Delâtre (1864-1938), the dedicatee, was both a printmaker and printer, who pulled impressions of etchings by artists such as Renoir, Cassatt, Toulouse-Lautrec, Steinlen and, in the early 1900s, Picasso. Crauzat 110.
