First edition of "the most original and beautiful children's book of the 1920's" (Dalby), folio, illustrated with forty-eight color plates alternating between calligraphic color text leaves hand-mounted on stiff grey paper; bound in publisher's parchment-backed boards, spine decorated in gilt; with original printed dust jacket stamped with gilt and gray; binding bumped with one corner exposed, one or two small stains, endpapers a bit browned; jacket somewhat creased with losses to edges and spine ends, spine discolored, a few small stains; 12 x 9 1/4 in.

One of only 2,000 copies printed, 350 of which were distributed for sale in the United States. This is Timlin's only completed work.
