  • Notes: first editions in latin of an account of the author''s 1546-50 travels in the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, and his treatise on the cultivation of exotic trees and plants. "One of the first explorer-naturalists" (DSB), Belon (1517-64) was a pioneering zoologist particularly known for his work in comparative anatomy.
