  • Notes: 13 December 1955: ". . . You had better be careful about going to Russia. I am not in a position to go over and bail you out these days."
    12 February 1960: ". . . I guess you could not believe your eyes and as a matter of fact, I have never seen this picture before either. . . ." With holograph postscript: "Just received your follow up on this. Never want my picture 'sold' with the present VP [Richard Nixon]."
    25 February 1963: ". . . The article on my view of Cuba [Harry S. Truman, "We Cannot Abandon Cuba," New York Standard, 24 February 1963] was a North American Newspaper Alliance release and it went to two or three hundred papers around . . . the country. . . ."
