Philadelphia, 1862; 1864 Though her name appears only on the Board of Managers, the Female Anti-Slavery Society was very much the creation of Lucretia Mott. At the founding meeting of the American Anti-Slavery Society, women were not invited to sign. The (Female) Society was formed in 1834 (see Drumond, chapter 33).
