TYLER, JOHN. Partly-printed vellum Document Signed, as President, land grant for 320 acres in Alabama to G. P. Gilder and J. C. Watson formerly belonging to Ar-har-locco-yoholo of the Creek Indians and ceded to the U.S. in an 1832 treaty. 1 page, folio; usual folds, minorloss along the folds repaired with tape on verso. Washington, 8 July 1845 E1,000/1,500 It is highly unusual to find a land grant actually signed by a President and not a secretary after 1833; however, severalof the Indian treaties required the President to sign grants of land ceded to the U.S. by those treaties.
