Folio, text in italic type, with woodcut initials and ornaments; title page with printer's woodcut device [McKerrow 242]; John Evelyn's signature to title page and "Durate &c. virg. cen L. 1."; with the shelf mark Aa, 2: 39 on front flyleaf, and Sir Frederick Evelyn's armorial bookplate inside front cover; with the JE book ticket from the Evelyn sale inside the back; translated into Italian from Hector Boece's (1465?-1536) longer Chronicle, excerpting the part of the text about Scotland; preliminary blank with evidence of bearers present; bound in full contemporary limp parchment, lacking ties, very large hole torn from center of back cover; 10 5/8 x 7 3/8 in.

Ubaldini was an Italian mercenary soldier and an accomplished calligrapher and illuminator of manuscripts. He fought for Henry VIII of England and in the Scottish War of 1549. He also created at least one illuminated manuscript that he presented to Queen Elizabeth, now housed at the Bodleian.
