UNUSUAL TEXAS ITEM
Treaty between Her Majesty and the Republick of Texas, for the Suppression of the African Slave Trade. 12 pages. Folio, self-wrappers, stitched. Joint Houses document. London, 1842
- Notes: first and only printing. This treaty, put into effect in 1842 was like other commercial treaties with Great Britain of the time. It allowed for the boarding and inspection of any vessels suspected of being engaged in the traffic of slaves. The subsequent annexation of Texas by the United States in 1845 nullified the treaty.
